I have always like the style and wording of Irish prayers. They are generally straightforward, and full of hope. I wrote the two prayers below for our military men and women, and anyone else we put in harm’s way.
This first short prayer is for all of us here at home to say for those who protect us and our way of life:
Heavenly Father, we pray for those who put themselves in harm’s way to ensure we sleep well today. For those who survived the day, we thank you; for those who are wounded, we pray for a quick and full recovery; and for those who will die today, we pray they will be in heaven with You before their body hits the ground. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
The second prayer is a daily prayer, to be used by those who go in harms way on our behalf. I pray that it brings them comfort:
Precious Lord, as we head out to protect our country today, we ask you to protect us in every way. We pray you will guide us safely to our camps tonight, safe from harm, and free from fright. But if it’s to be our last go round, we pray we’ll be in heaven with you before our body hits the ground. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Pray for our troops and all those who protect us from harm.
