Most of us like to do good deeds. The question is are we doing the deeds for the right reason?
If you are thinking more about the glory you might receive because of the deed; rather than thinking about the deed itself, you need to rethink.
You should be wanting to help someone because they need help, not because you will be noticed and praised for what you did. After all, if you think about it, if you do the good deed because someone needed your help, you silently get the good feeling that goes along with knowing that you helped someone.
There is no glory or good feeling if you help someone for the wrong reasons. Look at the story of the Good Samaritan, he helped while others walked on the other side of the road to avoid having to help. He did it because it was the right thing to do, not because he thought he would get credit for being a good person.
Jesus tell us to love one another, and the easiest way to do that is to help one another.
Lend a helping hand, in your own thoughts you get to feel good.
