New Year’s Eve – 2012/2013

My wife and I love New Year’s Eve, we were married on New Year’s Eve, 28 years ago and we go somewhere and do something fun every year.

Now let’s take a look at 2012 and what went on.  I am only going to pick out some of the biggies, because 2012 was a very busy year.

Let’s see, we had the London Olympics, the elections, lots of sports first, lots of “famous” people died, our dysfunctional government remained dysfunctional and the general population of the United States were  totally cheated by the government.  In other words pretty much same stuff, different year.

Conservative  estimates say that at least 50,000 people died of starvation in the US.  World wide it is estimated at 13% of the population or 852 million people are starving.

We had some of the weirdest weather in 2012, tornadoes in the winter, hurricanes leaving most of the southeast alone, but hammering the northeast.  Flooding, drought, avalanches, mudslides, etc., etc., etc.

The world was supposed to end on 12/21/12, but obviously it did not.  Turns out it was a Mayan practical joke.

We had a guy free fall from outer space, safely.  New versions of all the hottest devices.  Despite  the lousy economy people spent a lot of money on “stuff”.

But you know what… in spite of all the mundane things, some really wonderful and inspiring  things happened too.

A 15-year-old girl spoke out about women’s rights in the middle east and survived an assassination attempt.

A young paratriathlete’s prosthetic device broke during a race, and a group of Marines stepped in and helped him cross  the finish line.

A Marine deploy to Afghanistan thinking his son would never walk (he had cerebral palsy but when his dad came home from his deployment he got the biggest surprise of his life.  His young son met him at the local gym where all the soldiers we reuniting with their families, and walked half way across the floor to his dad’s waiting arms.

A man was shown in the waters of Lake Superior comforting his 19-year-old dog who could barely walk, but in the water he was OK.

There were of course all  the stories out of the middle east with all the uprisings and take overs and rebellions.  Thousands were killed from many different nations, including our own country.  The American Embassy in Benghazi was attacked and four of our citizens (including the Ambassador) were killed.

North Korea tested a long-range missile capable of reaching the US.    All the neighboring countries and the US protested.

I could go on and on, but to what end.  Until we learn and return to God, you could take this post, copy it and just change  the dates.  We as a whole have abandoned God, and I think he is getting tired of it.  I know we should be fed up, but how does one or two individuals make a difference?

Mumbles says,

One or two individual’s have made a difference in the past, and they will again, mark my word on it.

God Bless us all in 2013!
