One of the scarier chapters in the Bible is Matthew 24. It describes things that are going to happen before the world ends. And, out of all those things listed, some of them are indeed happening even now. Things like wars (nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom); famines and earthquakes. Mark 24:8 says “these are the beginning of the birth pains.”
As verse eight says, these are the “beginning” of the end. There is much more to come, and there are many dangers that will come with the “beginning”; such as false prophets and fake Messiahs. Immediately after the various signs, those listed here and many others, verses 29 tells us “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies will be shaken,”
So, why doesn’t God just end it? If you look around you at all the depravity, pestilence, hatred and all matters of evil; well you have to wonder…
When then will the end of the world come upon us? If any one, Mayan or otherwise tries to tell they know, well, they are trying to deceive you; for as verses 36-37 tells us “36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
I have often wondered why God let’s us continue doing so much evil and so little good. Why doesn’t He level this planet and be done with us? If you or I were the decision maker on this, most of us would just end it.
God says in verses 34-35 “34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
So, if you feel confident that these things will not happen in our life time, then go ahead and sin to your heart’s delight, and just keep your fingers crossed that you will be forgiven or forgotten before God notices you and wipes you off the face of the earth and sends you straight to hell.
I don’t know about you and yours, but as for me and my household, we will follow the Lord.
God’s love to you all!
