The Gay and Lesbian Marriage Issue

This is not going to earn me any points with a lot of my family and friends and former co-workers, but I feel I have to say something.

The gay/lesbian issues facing this country today could easily become the biggest dividing factor in this nations history. It’s already caused protests and marches and who knows what else. Facebook if dividing the masses, and I am sure Twitter and all the other social networks are loading up as well. And it should.

I’m not a dangerous ultra conservative, but I am a Christian and a conservative. Saying that, I must say that I have people I know as friends who are gay/lesbian. Sounds like the 60s and 70s when a white guy would say “I have nothing against blacks, hell I even have some that are friends.”  That makes a person sound very shallow, it didn’t help the situation back then and it doesn’t work any better now.

I believe that gays and lesbians should have the right to what I call “legally invested interest rights benefits” with their partners.  It would allow them financial and some legal rights they wouldn’t have otherwise; however, I am strongly and adamantly against gay/lesbian marriages. The bible says one man/one woman. When God created man, He gave man a woman as his companion, not another man. If God wanted men to marry men, and women to marry women, He would have given us all the ability to fertilize and the ability to conceive and have babies.

I do not apologize for what I believe, and I don’t expect others, no matter what side you take on this issue to apologize either.  And therein lies the rub.

This issue is splitting up families and friends and has the potential to be as derisive as the racial issue was in the past.

Mumbles says,

God help us all as we struggle with this issue.

God bless us and keep us all safe!
