In a sermon I was privileged to hear Sunday, our Pastor was talking about the following:
1. Christianity in the United States is on a serious decline.
2. “Feel good” churches are popping up all over the place.
3. The upcoming generations are drifting away from God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
4. The current generations are not ensuring that their children learn about God, the Bible and Jesus life on earth, his betrayal and his death and resurrection.
We as parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles are not doing our jobs. As Christian parents, grandparents, etc. we are tasked with ensuring our children, grandchildren, etc. are taught about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. And, judging by the decline in church attendance, baptisms, confirmations and church weddings, we are failing. Granted we can’t make them believe, but we can at least give them a Christian early introduction.
The feel good churches talk a big game, they mention Jesus, and they talk about heaven, but as far as sin or the devil and hell are considered, they rarely, if ever talk about them. They take your money, but you get none of the benefits of Christianity such are forgiveness of sins, a guarantee to heaven if you believe in Jesus Christ and life everlasting.
The young people are disillusioned with churches and religion, they can’t relate. Besides, what does some guy dying over 2000 years ago have to do with what going on today.
And finally, we as parents, grandparents and other family members need to be committed to ensuring that the newborns are baptized and taken to church, and the bible put in their hands. Were tasked with giving them the best start in life that we can.
With all that is going on in this country, we need God now more than even. The government trying to devalue religion, changing the face of marriage, kicking God out of our schools, removing his name from our government buildings and on and on. We left atheists have their way, but belittle the churches. So, it’s time we take back our country and invite Jesus to return and save us from ourselves.
Mumbles says: Let’s put God back in Christianity and bring him back to America, before it’s too late.
